Schools Relay Challenge

Overview

The Schools Relay Challenge is a community based initiative where schools help raise funds for the Children's Cancer Institute, increase awareness of this important cause and importantly have fun participating in an open water swim relay.

How it works

• Each team has 4 swimmers.
• Each swimmer swims a leg of the relay 200m.
• Participants can swim in their school year category, or an older category
• Entry cost are $25 for each swimmer

Fundraising

Each team participating will be provided with a fundraising page which is used to raise funds for the Children's Cancer Institute. The School Challenge Leaders board page has an up-to-date view of the total funds raised by the schools, as well as a the top fund-raising teams.

On the Day 

Please note the event will take care of your belongings, but no responsibility will be taken for valuables or clothing that are lost or damaged.

Toilets

Toilets are located at the north, south and centre of Balmoral Beach at Bathers Pavilion, Balmoral Baths, the Bus Shed and Balmoral Beach Club.

Minors need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian to all toilet facilities.

Smoking

We request all participants to abide by Mosman Council's Smoking Policy. Smoking is not permitted on all Mosman beaches and Council parks or reserves .

COVID safe

This event will follow any health/COVID restrictions that may be in place at the time of the swim.

We ask that swimmers do not come to the event if :

• you are feeling unwell or have someone at home who is unwell
• have tested positive for COVID-19 or are a  close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 and you have not completed the required quarantine period as outlined by NSW Health
  
  

Results and Presentations

All the results will be posted online later in the day.
The presentation will occur immediately after the race. Prizes will not be posted out if you are not there to claim your prize.

Getting There

Public Transport

To get to Balmoral you can catch a 114 bus from Royal North Shore hospital or a 238 bus from Taronga zoo. For more information visit Sydney buses info.

There is also a free shuttle bus organized for the Balmoral swim which passes a number of bus stops and parking. For more information see the shuttle bus map.

Parking

Parking at Balmoral is limited, and we strongly encourage alternative transport methods (public transport, rideshare, cycling and walking)

Balmoral Beach has a limited amount of metered parking on the Esplanade and 2 hr parking on Awaba, Waitovu and Hunter streets.

The end of the Esplanade (cul-de-sac), north of Awaba Street, will have 1/3 fewer parking spots than normal on the day.

Please note: The conditions of entry into Council’s “Pay & Display” car parks must be complied with. Parking regulations will be enforced. Parking fees for April 2025 from 8am to 8pm are $10 per hour or $40 a day.

Please note: Mosman Council Rangers will enforce parking infringements on the day, so please park according to signage and normal parking rules. We would hate for you to get a ticket.

Medals are awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place teams members for each relay

The Barry Feyder Charity Cup

The Barry Feyder Charity Cup is awarded to the team that raises the most funds.

Schools Trophy

The Schools Trophy will be awarded to the winning school with the most points.
