Schools Relay Challenge

Overview

The Schools Relay Challenge is a community based initiative where schools help raise funds for the Children's Cancer Institute, increase awareness of this important cause and importantly have fun participating in an open water swim relay.

How it works

  • Each team has 4 swimmers.
  • Each swimmer swims a leg of the relay 200m.
  • Participants can swim in their school year category, or an older category
  • Entry cost are $20 for each swimmer

Fundraising

Each team participating will be provided with a fundraising page which is used to raise funds for the Children's Cancer Institute. The School Challenge Leaders board page has an up-to-date view of the total funds raised by the schools, as well as a the top fund-raising teams.

On the Day 


Timing


Check in:  7:15am at School Tent

Start time: 8.00am

Finish time: 9.00am

Please be mindful of social distancing requirements.

Bag drop

There will be a bag drop area located on the grass  open from 7:00am – 10:00am

Please note the event will take care of your belongings, but no responsibility will be taken for valuables or clothing that are lost or damaged.

Toilets

Toilets are located at the north, south and centre of Balmoral Beach at Bathers Pavilion, Balmoral Baths and the Bus shed.

COVID safe

We will continue to monitor Health advice for  changes to the swim to ensure participant and community safety. This year only online entry is available and we will be capping participant numbers. 

We ask that all swimmers follow any instructions from the COVID safety marshals on the day and that you do not come to the event if :

  • you are feeling unwell or have someone at home who is unwell
  • have been in close contact with someone who is unwell or has visited a COVID-19 hotspot, or
  • you have visited a COVID-19 hotspot and have not completed the required quarantine period

Results and Presentations

All the results will be posted online later in the day.
The presentation will occur immediately after the race. Prizes will not be posted out if you are not there to claim your prize.

Getting There

Public Transport

To get to Balmoral you can catch a 114 bus from Royal North Shore hospital or a 238 bus from Taronga zoo. For more information visit Sydney buses info.

There is also a free shuttle bus organized for the Balmoral swim which passes a number of bus stops and parking. For more information see the shuttle bus map.

Parking

Balmoral Beach provides metered parking on the Esplanade and 2 hr parking on Awaba, Waitovu and Hunter streets


Prizes

Medals are awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place teams members for each relay

The Charity Cup

The Charity Cup is awarded to the team that raises the most funds.

Schools Trophy

The Schools Trophy will be awarded to the winning school with the most points.
