Overview
Perfect for first-time ocean swimmers or for seasoned veterans. A great course set around the bay at Balmoral Beach. The race is split between males and females and goes off in waves, Age groups are :
under 15 | 15-19yrs | 20-29yrs | 30-39yrs | 40-49yrs | 50-59yrs | 60-69yrs | 70-79yrs | 80 +
An elite category is available for swimmers who register online to nominate (Male and Female). The winners (Male and Female) of this Elite category will win the Anita Comelli Trophy. Winners of the Anita Cormelli Trophy are not eligible for an age group win, all others will be eligible for an age group place in their relevant age group.
There is also a special last wave "Fins, Friends, Family & Fun" for those who swimmer want to use fins, or swim with a group of friends or family. No special registration, enter in your age category and you can opt to swim in this wave on the day instead of your normal age category wave.

- Check in is between 8:15 am and 10 am am near the Rotunda (near cnr The Esplanade & Mandolong Rd).
- All swimmers entered online need to bring some form of ID to pick up their race packs.
- Your race packs include your timing tag and swim cap.

Alexander Patrick Hall trophy
Raise more than $200 on the Balmoral Swim Fundraising platform by 8 pm on Saturday before the race as an individual and you will be eligible to be part of the Alexander Patrick Hall trophy.
On the Day
Please be mindful of social distancing requirements.
Timing
All competitors will need to check in at the 1km age group desk to pick up caps and timing tags.
Check in is near the Rotunda (near cnr The Esplanade & Mandolong Rd).
Check-in: 8:15am - 10.00am
Start time: 10:15 am
Bag drop
- There will be a bag drop tent located on the grass next to the Rotunda open from 8:00am – 11:45am
- You will be required to provide details (name and mobile number) so we can attach it to your bag for minding.
Please note the event will take care of your belongings, but no responsibility will be taken for valuables or clothing that are lost or damaged.

Toilets
Toilets are located at the north, south and centre of Balmoral Beach at Bathers Pavilion, Balmoral Baths and the Bus shed.
Event Village
This year you can enjoy the event with the whole family in the outdoors. There will be entertainment, food, warm down zones & more.
Balmoral Beach also has some great cafes and coffee shops and places to picnic so stay around after the event and enjoy beautiful Balmoral.
COVID safe
This event will follow any health/COVID restrictions that may be in place at the time of the swim.
We ask that all swimmers do not come to the event if :
- you are feeling unwell or have someone at home who is unwell
- you have tested positive for COVID-19 or are a close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 and you have not completed the required quarantine period as outlined by NSW Health
Cancellation Policy
In the case where the 1km Event has to be cancelled, entry fees for those swimmers who entered this year will credited to next years event. Any registrations carried over from previous years cancellations will not be credited to the next years event.
If the Events swimmer participation numbers need to be restricted due to changing COVID restrictions the competitors will be chosen on a first come first served basis. Entry fees will be credited to next years event for those who do not make the cut of swimmers participating.
Refunds or credits will not be made for any additional items purchased, such as event merchandise and charitable donations
Results and Presentations
All the results will be posted online later in the day.
The presentation will occur immediately after the race. Prizes will not be posted out if you are not there to claim your prize.

Public Transport
To get to Balmoral you can catch a 114 bus from Royal North Shore hospital or a 238 bus from Taronga zoo. For more information visit Sydney buses info.
Parking
Balmoral Beach provides metered parking on the Esplanade and 2 hr parking on Awaba, Waitovu and Hunter streets.

Anita Comelli Trophy
You can nominate to swim in an Elite category when you register online. The winning Male and Female of the Elite category will win the Anita Comelli Trophy. Numbers in the Elite category are restricted, The Balmoral Swim organisers reserve the right to determine who will be part of the Elite wave. Any entrants that nominated for the Elite category but are not selected to be part of the Elite wave will be allocated to the relevant age group wave. Winners of the Anita Cormelli Trophy are not eligible for an age group win, all others will be eligible for an age group place in their relevant age group.
Perennial Trophy for the highest fundraisers
The Alexander Patrick Hall trophy is awarded to both the individual swimmer and team who raise the most money for the Balmoral Swim each year. Judges will award the prize to the team and the individual who has raised the most money by 8 pm on the Saturday before the race.
